One of a Kind
I don’t think it’s just a coincidence that the women I work with at Spring Street are as unique and beautiful as the pieces we showcase. I didn’t grow up with sisters (I’m the little sister to an older brother) but there is a sisterhood that greets me whenever I walk through those big glass doors. From young women in college (who are closer in age to my oldest son than to me!) to women having grown children, and every stage in between, I have quickly and surprisingly found my home-away-from-home among these ladies at Spring Street. And Cynthia, our matriarch, the store owner and our mother-from-another-mother, treats us all like family and is forever asking us to try a new chocolate or sending home treats for my kids.
These women are amazing, and I have to admit that I am really lucky to be here. You want to know something else? Cynthia’s attention and devotion to her Spring Street family doesn’t end there. Every single item is hand-picked by Cynthia. Every. Single. One. There is not one piece of jewelry, not one candle, wrap, or dress that Cynthia did not choose. Each— and I mean each-- item is hand-selected. It probably won’t come as a surprise to you when I share that so many of our products are made by women or women-owned businesses, too. Truly, our sisterhood bonds extend into every aspect of Spring Street. Our Musee bath balms (that smell good enough to eat, are the size of a huge apple and have a surprise inside of them) are made by a woman-owned company. Our Mer Sea candles and clothing, Seattle Chocolates, JaxKelly earrings, and Scout bags? All women. Our truly one-of-kind necklaces by designer Catherine Weitzman are inspired by the artist’s love of nature. A personal favorite of mine are the Chavez bracelets because each bracelet supports and draws awareness to non-profit organizations around the world that need our help. It seems too good to be true that I can wear a really fun, comfortable, stackable bracelet and donate to charity at the same time. And guess what? Chavez bracelets are—you guessed it—a company owned by women. In a world that is still (in my opinion) dominated by more men than women, Spring Street is a refreshing dose of female inspiration, sisterhood, and beauty. And if you ever want to know what Cynthia is like, you need only walk into this bright, beautiful, and cheerful shop to find out.
